On July 2, 2019, the US Trade Representative's office announced a supplemental list of products that could face additional tariffs due to EU subsidies on large civil aircraft.

According to the statement, the list includes 89 tariff subheadings with an approximate trade value of $4 billion, in addition to the initial list published on April 12, which included tariff subheadings with an approximate trade value of $21 billion.

The Boeing-Airbus dispute has been ongoing for over 14 years, with both Washington and Brussels accusing each other of unfairly subsidizing the aviation giants.

US President Donald Trump has made taking aim at what he views as unfair trade practices a key goal of his presidency, and tariffs are his favored tool for doing so.

The latest move comes amid a trade war between the US and China, with both sides imposing tariffs on hundreds of billions of dollars in two-way trade.
