On July 18, 2021, the death of constable Caroline Kangogo sparked intense debate, with many questioning whether it was murder or suicide.

Her father, Barnabas Kibor, a retired police officer, confirmed that she indeed killed herself, citing that she arrived home on Wednesday night at 10 pm using a Boda Boda and then locked herself inside the bathroom before shooting herself dead.

However, the family of Kangogo later revealed that she will be buried in line with the Christian culture, contradicting her suicide message.

Reports indicated that Kangogo was found dead inside a bathroom in her father's compound in Keiyo, Elgeyo Marakwet County, with her mother, Leah, raising alarm immediately she saw her lying inside the bathroom.

As the investigation unfolds, netizens and leaders have weighed in on the matter, poking holes into the statement by Rift Valley Regional Commissioner George Natembeya that killer cop Caroline Kangogo committed suicide.

LSK President Nelson Havi faulted the media for poor analysis of the whole matter, noting that the media has been conscripted by DCI to run with the cover-up story.

Criminal lawyer Cliff Ombeta also disagreed with the statement by police that Kangogo committed suicide, citing that the placement of the gun in her hand, blood splatter, and drag would not be at the front, indicating that she was brought there and left to bleed.
