July 1, 2019, marked a significant milestone for Kenyan football as Dr. Peter Waweru, a lecturer at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, was appointed by CAF to officiate a match at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Waweru will run proceedings in Namibia's final Group D match against Ivory Coast from 7pm Kenyan time, assisted by Gilbert Cheruiyot and Souru Phatsoane from Lesotho.

The match is set to be a crucial one for both teams, with Ivory Coast second on the group with three points and Namibia bottom with no points, chasing their first victory in the competition.

With Ivory Coast looking to avoid a second successive early elimination, Namibia still holds a slim hope of finding a place in the next round, depending on other groups' results.
