Kenya's women's basketball team, the Lionesses, made a strong impression in the FIBA Africa Zone Five Qualifiers, advancing to the final after a thrilling semi-final match against Uganda on July 31.
The Lionesses, led by Femas Koranga's game-high 19 points, edged out the hosts 67-62 at the Lugogo indoor courts in Uganda.
Uganda's Clare Lamumu, with 21 points, was unable to prevent the Lionesses from securing their spot in the final.
The Lionesses had previously defeated Rwanda 92-80 in their second match and then thumped Uganda in the semi-finals, setting the stage for their final showdown against Egypt.
On July 31, Egypt had routed Rwanda 78-73 in the other semi-final, setting up a rematch between the Lionesses and the Pharaohs, who had previously defeated them 86-82 in the opening match.
The Lionesses will face Egypt in the final on August 1 at 5 pm.
