Kenya's Telecommunication Rivals Mourn Fallen CEO Bob Collymore

On July 1, 2019, Kenya's telecommunication industry lost a leader with the passing of Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore.

Collymore's death was met with tributes from his competitors, Airtel and Telkom, who praised his leadership and dedication to the sector.

According to a statement from Airtel, Kenya has lost a leader with integrity and a passion for innovation.

"We have received the news of Collymore's passing with great sadness, we have lost a CEO who was a true leader in the telecommunications sector, we would like to send our condolences to his family and friends," Airtel said.

Similarly, Telkom's CEO, Mugo Kibati, described Collymore as a visionary leader who will be deeply missed.

"I am struggling to put into words the sadness I feel after hearing about Collymore's passing, but I am grateful for the time we had him in the telecommunications sector," Kibati said.

Kenya's online community also paid tribute to Collymore, with many expressing their condolences to his family and friends.
