July 1, 2019, marked a significant milestone for Kenyan football as Dr. Peter Waweru, a lecturer at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, was appointed by CAF to officiate a match at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Waweru will be in charge of proceedings in Namibia's final Group D match against Ivory Coast, scheduled to kick off at 7pm Kenyan time.

He will be assisted by Gilbert Cheruiyot, another Kenyan, and Souru Phatsoane from Lesotho.

The match is crucial for both teams, with Ivory Coast seeking to avoid a second successive early elimination and Namibia hoping to secure their first victory in the competition.
