Safaricom's Chief Executive Officer, Bob Collymore, who died on July 1, 2019, will be laid to rest on July 2, 2019, in a private ceremony, the company announced.
Speaking at a briefing at the Michael Joseph Centre, Safaricom Board Chairman Nicholas Ng'ang'a said the ceremony will be restricted to Collymore's family members.
A public memorial service will be held later in the week, with the Board Chair suggesting it could take place on Thursday or Friday.
Ng'ang'a also stated that he would convene a meeting with the rest of the Safaricom PLC board members within the next 24 hours to discuss the company's future.
He emphasized that the Board is fully behind the management left behind by Collymore and will continue to offer all the services the company has been providing.
Collymore, who leaves behind a wife and four children, passed away at his Nairobi home after a long battle with cancer.
