On 1 July 2019, President Salva Kiir of South Sudan arrived in Nairobi, Kenya, for a two-day state visit.
President Kiir was received by President Uhuru Kenyatta at State House, Nairobi, in a ceremony that included a 21-gun salute.
During the formal welcome, the visiting Head of State inspected a guard of honour mounted by the Kenya Army, accompanied by the national anthems of Kenya, South Sudan, and the East African Community played by the military band.
The two leaders will engage in bilateral talks, focusing on trade, peace, and stability in South Sudan, a matter of great concern to President Kenyatta.
