Published on July 1, 2019, a senior Tanzanian government official has made sensational claims about Kenya's win over Taifa Stars in a 2019 Africa Cup of Nations match.

Paul Makonda, the regional commissioner for Dar es Salaam, alleged that Kenya employed 'dirty tricks' to secure the 3-2 win over Tanzania in Cairo.

However, Makonda failed to provide any evidence to support his claims, leaving many to question the validity of his accusations.

Kenya's comeback win was marked by a brace from Michael Olunga, who was named man-of-the-match.

According to official statistics, Kenya earned three yellow cards, while Tanzania received two yellow cards in the match.

Notably, no red card was issued in the game.

Following the loss, Makonda apologized to President John Magufuli and vowed that Taifa Stars would return to the next edition of the tournament in two years' time as a stronger and improved side.
