July 1, 2019, marked a significant milestone for KLM Royal Dutch Airlines as it celebrated 50 years of operations in East Africa. To commemorate this occasion, the airline is set to introduce the first-ever Boeing Dreamliner 787-10 in the region.
According to Arthur Dieffentheler, KLM's General Manager in charge of Eastern Africa, the airline has improved its services to meet the dynamic needs of its clientele base in the face of cutthroat competition in the air travel market.
Dieffentheler emphasized the importance of tailoring products to the African market, stating that airlines must navigate through the competitive aviation sector by offering unique services that cater to the region's specific needs.
As part of its efforts to establish a strong presence in East Africa, KLM is introducing the Boeing Dreamliner 787-10, a move aimed at enhancing its services and cutting a niche in the competitive aviation sector.
The airline also highlighted the need for regional airlines to leverage technology to ensure environmentally friendly flights, aligning with the global trend of 'green' air travel.
With a 7.8% stake in Kenya Airways, KLM expressed hope that its partnership with the national carrier would remain intact in the event of nationalization, as proposed by parliament.
