On a lighter note, Bob Collymore, the former CEO of Safaricom, had a hidden talent that few people knew about - his rap skills. In a music video featuring Jimmy Gait's song 'Furi Furi', Bob Collymore showcased his talent, leaving many Kenyans in awe.
He was not alone in the video, as it also featured other celebrities such as Julie Gichuru, Jeff Koinange, and Coccoh.
Bob Collymore's passion for music was not limited to just being in a music video. Through Safaricom, he mentored thousands of talented individuals through the Safaricom Jazz initiative.
Speaking about the Safaricom Jazz launch in 2014, Bob Collymore stated that the main aim was to help underprivileged kids who were talented musically. He wrote, 'Our goal, since we launched in February 2014 has been to make Nairobi an internationally recognized hub of Jazz music.'
Proceeds from Safaricom Jazz go towards supporting Ghetto Classics, a non-profit, community-based programme that seeks to transform the lives of youth from underprivileged backgrounds by introducing them to the world of live jazz and classical music.
