July 1, 2019, marked a sad day for Kenya as the news of Bob Collymore's passing spread. The Safaricom Chairman, Nicholas Nganga, announced the news early morning, leaving many in shock and grief.

Bob Collymore was more than just the CEO of Safaricom; he was a man who made a significant impact on the lives of many Kenyans. Through the Safaricom slogan, 'Tukonawe Kila Wakati,' he helped numerous individuals grow their businesses and, most importantly, enabled many young people to join school.

Kenyan artists will also remember him for his love and support for the country's music industry. His legacy extends beyond his professional accomplishments, as he was a kind-hearted individual who motivated and contributed to the well-being of the nation.

Before his untimely demise, Bob Collymore expressed a heartfelt wish to end gender-based violence in Senegal. He signed a petition demanding the criminalization of rape in the country, emphasizing the importance of collective action in putting an end to this social issue.

President Uhuru Kenyatta paid tribute to the late CEO in a heartfelt message, stating, 'It is with deep sadness that I have this morning received news of the death of Safaricom CEO Mr. Bob Collymore after years of battling cancer. As a country, we’ve lost a distinguished corporate leader whose contribution to our national wellbeing will be missed.'
