July 1, 2019, marked a tumultuous period for EMB Records, with artists exiting and a war of words between the label's CEO, Bahati, and his artists.
At the center of the controversy was a debt owed to Bahati, with artists alleging that he failed to honor their contracts and mistreated them.
However, in a recent interview with Pulse Magazine, David Wonder, one of the artists involved, shed light on the situation.
'An investment was made,' David Wonder revealed. 'However, I am not sure of the figure because when working we didn’t really put everything we did on paper.'
He confirmed that the label owned the rights to their songs, with revenue going directly to EMB Records until the debt was settled.
'According to the contract, the label was to own all the rights to the songs till they recovered the amount invested,' David Wonder explained.
Despite the controversy, David Wonder revealed that a payment plan was in place to ensure that Bahati received his money.
