Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore Passes Away After Cancer Battle

July 1, 2019, marked a somber day for Safaricom as the company announced the passing of its CEO, Bob Collymore, who succumbed to cancer at his home.

According to a statement released by Safaricom Chairman Nicholas Ng'ang'a, Collymore had been undergoing treatment for his condition since 2017, when he took a short medical leave to fight off the cancer in his body.

Ng'ang'a stated, "He has been undergoing treatment for his condition since then in different hospitals and most recently at Aga Khan University Hospital in Nairobi. In recent weeks, his condition worsened and he succumbed to the cancer at his home in the early hours of Monday."

The news of Collymore's passing has sent shockwaves across the country, with many paying tribute to his dedication and leadership at Safaricom.
