Switzerland Football Star Missing After Swimming Accident in Italian Lake

Florijana Ismaili, a talented football player from Switzerland, has gone missing after a swimming accident on Lake Como in northern Italy, her professional club announced on June 30, 2019.

According to the BSC Young Boys club, Ismaili had been swimming with a teammate on Saturday afternoon when the accident occurred. The club stated that they had been informed that Ismaili had been missing since Saturday afternoon and that searches by the police were continuing.

The club expressed concern for Ismaili's safety and said they were in close contact with her family members. Ismaili, who is the captain of the Young Boys team, has been a part of Switzerland's national team since 2014.

According to the Italian daily Corriere della Sera, Ismaili had rented an inflatable boat with her teammate near Musso and had jumped into the water, but never surfaced again.

The search for Ismaili was suspended overnight, but resumed on Sunday morning. Divers had been searching the area since 4:30 pm on Saturday, but no results had been found.
