On July 1, 2019, Gor Mahia, the SportPesa Premier League champions, made a significant move in the transfer market by signing Rwandan attacking midfielder Djabel Imanishimwe.
According to Rayon Sport, the Rwandan champions, the transfer was confirmed on their official Twitter page.
"We have reached an agreement for the transfer of midfielder Djabel Imanishiwe to Gor Mahia. We would like to wish our captain well as we say a fond goodbye," Rayon Sport confirmed.
Although Gor Mahia officials declined to comment on the matter, sources close to the club revealed that they will part with approximately Sh3 million in exchange for the player's services.
Imanishimwe, who has won five league titles, is expected to earn a Sh1 million signing fee plus a Sh150,000 monthly salary.
This transfer comes amidst reports that Kenya international Francis Kahata has agreed on a deal in principle to join Tanzania's Simba SC.
