AFCON 2019: Egypt Wins Group A, Uganda and Zimbabwe Eliminated

On June 30, Egypt continued their perfect run at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) by defeating Uganda 2-0 in their final Group A match at the Cairo International Stadium.

With this win, Egypt finished top of the group, having already secured a spot in the last 16 of the competition. Uganda, on the other hand, finished second in the group and qualified for the first time in 41 years.

DR Congo also secured a 4-0 victory over Zimbabwe in the second fixture of the group, with Jonathan Bolingi scoring the opener just four minutes into the game. Cedric Bakambu scored a brace, including a penalty in the 65th minute, and Britt Assombalonga added a fourth goal in the 78th minute.

Meanwhile, Zimbabwe finished bottom of the group with a single point, earned in their 1-1 draw against Uganda.
