On Saturday afternoon, a gruesome discovery was made in Gitimbine area, Meru County. A 45-year-old trader, Joel Kaberia, was found dead, his body mutilated and stashed in a sack at his rental house.
According to eyewitnesses, Kaberia had gone missing on Friday night, and his fellow butchers had been searching for him after missing him on phone for most of Saturday morning.
His wife, 22-year-old Bridget Gacheri, initially told the butchers that she had not seen her husband since Friday night when he allegedly stormed out of the house following a domestic disagreement.
However, the butchers were suspicious of Gacheri's story and conducted a citizen's arrest, taking her to Meru Police Station. They then returned to the deceased's house, broke the door, and discovered his body parts stashed in a sack and others scattered around the bedroom before alerting the police.
Confirming the incident, Imenti North police boss James Githinji said two suspects, including the deceased's wife, are presently being held as investigations into the gruesome murder continue.
