Published on June 30, 2019, Benin's long wait for a first win at the Africa Cup of Nations continued on Saturday with a goalless draw against Guinea-Bissau in Ismailia.
The draw marked Benin's third consecutive goalless match in the tournament, extending their winless streak to 11 matches dating back to their debut in 2004.
Only Mozambique, with 12 matches, have played more games in the competition without recording a win.
Guinea-Bissau, who made their tournament debut in 2017, earned their first point in Group F, keeping both teams in contention for a place in the last 16.
Cameroon, the defending champions, top the section with four points, while Benin and Ghana are level on two points.
Former Sunderland and West Brom midfielder Stephane Sessegnon returned to the Benin lineup after serving a suspension, but it was Huddersfield forward Steve Mounie who had the team's best chances, drawing a sharp save from Jonas Mendes and heading over unmarked from a Sessegnon free-kick.
