At least 48% of Kenyans are worried about the country's future, citing high cost of living, corruption, and unemployment as major concerns.
According to a poll conducted by Infotrak Research and Consulting in late June, 1048 respondents from 24 counties expressed their views on the country's direction.
While 34% of Kenyans believe the country is on the right path, 14% are unsure. However, the majority of respondents (55%) credit President Uhuru Kenyatta for steering the country in the right direction.
On the other hand, 26% of Kenyans blame President Kenyatta for the country being headed in the wrong direction, while 15% place the blame on all political leaders.
The poll also revealed that unemployment (29%), high cost of living (21%), corruption (16%), insecurity/crime (5%), and food security (4%) are among the key issues of concern to Kenyans.
Furthermore, 58% of Kenyans are dissatisfied with the recently unveiled Ksh.3.02 trillion budget, while 17% are content with it and 25% are still unsure.
Additionally, 31% of respondents believe there is no opposition, while 44% say the opposition exists but is not performing its role of keeping the government in check.
According to the poll, Jubilee Party is the most popular political party, followed by the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party and the Kalonzo Musyoka-led Wiper party.
