Eight Arrested for Operating Suspected Illegal Brewery in Dandora

On June 30, 2019, detectives from the Special Crimes Prevention Unit (SCPU) arrested eight suspects in Dandora for allegedly operating an illegal alcohol brewing and processing plant.

The suspects were nabbed following a tip-off from members of the public, and a raid was conducted at the plant.

During the raid, detectives confiscated 181 boxes of Star spirit, each containing 20 bottles of 250ml, 42 boxes of Blue Ice vodka, empty plastics, and Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) stickers.

The suspects, who are being held in police custody pending arraignment, are Stephen Wambugu, David Chui, Salome Wanjiru, Wilikister Kemunto, John Mwangi, Daniel Maigwa, Zacharia Macharia, and Peter Maina.

According to the DCI Kenya, detectives are still in pursuit of the owner of the illegal brewing plant, who is said to be at large.
