On June 30, 2019, Nashon Okowa, a young Kenyan real estate professional, was appointed to the South African Construction Management Advisory Council. Okowa chairs the Association of Construction Managers of Kenya (ACMK) and was appointed to the Construction Management Foundation's Advisory Council for a period of three years.

Of the 16 members, 13 are South Africans, and Okowa is the only appointee from the rest of Africa. He will serve alongside distinguished scholars, including Professor Lauri Koskela of the University of Huddersfield, UK, and Graham Teede, former National Vice President at the Australian Institute of Building.

Foundation CEO Ronnie Siphika stated that appointees are drawn from business, academia, and government to serve in the newly established advisory council. Siphika described the council as composed of accomplished experts offering innovative advice and dynamic perspectives.

Okowa, managing director of Beacon Africa Consultants, expressed his honor at the appointment. He noted that the opportunity allows them to learn and bring home the best construction management practices from countries doing better than Kenya.

The Construction Management Foundation is a thought leadership organisation that seeks to transform construction management through research, innovation, and policy.
