On June 29, 2019, Haiti pulled off a stunning upset against Canada in the 2019 Gold Cup, advancing to their first semi-final appearance in the tournament's history.

Canada, who won the tournament in 2000 but hadn't made it to the semis since 2007, took an early lead with goals from Jonathan David in the 18th minute and Lucas Cavallini in the 28th minute.

However, Haiti's Duckens Nazon got the comeback started with a goal in the 50th minute, and Herve Bazile tied it up with a penalty kick in the 70th minute, both times capitalizing on sloppy defensive play by Canadian defender Marcus Godinho.

Wilde-Donald Guerrier sealed the win with a spectacular individual effort in the 76th minute, sneaking behind the Canadian defense and scoring with a one-tap shot past goalkeeper Milan Borjan.
