On June 30, 2019, Nashon Okowa, a Kenyan real estate professional, was appointed to the South African Construction Management Advisory Council for a period of three years.
Okowa, who chairs the Association of Construction Managers of Kenya (ACMK), is the only appointee from the rest of Africa among the 16 members, 13 of whom are South Africans.
He will serve alongside distinguished scholars, including Professor Lauri Koskela of the University of Huddersfield, UK, and Graham Teede, former National Vice President at the Australian Institute of Building.
Okowa, managing director of Beacon Africa Consultants, expressed his honor at the appointment, stating, "This is a perfect opportunity for us to learn and bring home the best construction management practices from countries doing better than us."
The Construction Management Foundation, a thought leadership organization, aims to transform construction management through research, innovation, and policy.
