Angola and Mauritania's Africa Cup of Nations campaign got off to a disappointing start with a 0-0 draw against each other in Suez, Egypt, on Saturday, June 29, 2019.
The match, played in sweltering heat, was the first goalless encounter of the tournament, and both teams struggled to create clear-cut scoring chances.
Angola, who had come from behind to draw 1-1 with Tunisia in their opening match, were favourites to win but failed to impress against Mauritania.
Mauritania's French-born coach Corentin Martins made three changes to his starting lineup, but his team's goalkeeper, Brahim Souleimane, had a shocker, failing to stop several shots on goal.
The draw leaves both teams with a mountain to climb in the group, with Mali top of the table with four points after two rounds, Tunisia and Angola on two points each, and Mauritania on one point.
