On a sweltering evening at the Ismailia stadium, Ghana's Black Stars clashed with Cameroon in a thrilling encounter that saw both sides serve up a feast of misplaced passes, poor first touches, and wayward finishing.
Despite the Black Stars' valiant efforts, the match ended in a stalemate, with the referee making some unusual decisions that left both teams frustrated.
Here's how the Black Stars' players fared in the match, as rated by Pulse.com.gh:
- Richard Ofori: 7/10 - The goalkeeper was well composed and got his timing right, making a superb save after tipping the ball over to deny Bassogog from 12 yards.
- Andy Yiadom: 5/10 - Yiadom had an average game, putting in a couple of crosses but losing possession quite a few times. However, he was solid defensively, and his last-minute shot inside the penalty area was poorly hit and straight at the goalkeeper.
- Baba Rahman: 6/10 - Rahman sent in a few crosses and was impressive when going forward, but he lost possession at a tricky position that could have hurt Ghana.
- Jonathan Mensah: 7/10 - Mensah was solid and confident, winning many battles in defense. He made a crucial block late in the game to deny Cameroon from taking the lead.
- Kassim Nuhu: 6/10 - Nuhu had a good performance, controlling the backline well and reading his line well.
- Kwadwo Asamoah: 5/10 - Asamoah had a lackluster game, combining well with Baba Rahman but not showing enough in the second half.
- Thomas Partey: 5/10 - Partey had a disappointing game, failing to use his pace to his advantage and being quite lackadaisical.
- Mubarak Wakaso: 5/10 - Wakaso had good control of the game but couldn't really make a difference, losing possession at a tricky position that could have hurt Ghana.
- Andre Ayew: 5/10 - Ayew had a poor performance, which was not surprising given that he was withdrawn from the game.
- Jordan Ayew: 5.5/10 - The striker struggled to get himself in the game, but he worked very hard for the team.
- Christian Atsu: N/A - Atsu got injured early in the game and was substituted for Samuel Owusu.
