On Friday, Migori Governor Okoth Obado and Suna West MP Peter Masara engaged in a heated exchange that marked the latest in a series of verbal attacks between the two leaders.
The confrontation occurred during a funds drive where the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leadership was present, with the two leaders accusing each other of embezzlement of public funds.
According to Masara, over Ksh. 8 billion received by Migori County during the previous financial year is yet to be accounted for.
Obado responded by saying that Masara should stop calling him a thief 'just because he does not agree with his style of leadership.'
The two leaders have been at odds for some time, with this being the second public confrontation in a span of one month.
They were speaking during the function at Nyabisawa Girls' Secondary School in Suna East Sub County, where ODM deputy party leader Hassan Joho also addressed residents.
Masara has previously linked Obado to a criminal gang that terrorises residents in Migori, and urged voters to question their leaders about their county expenditures, which are financed through public resources.
Obado, however, insists that Masara is obsessed with him and has political scores to settle.
The latest confrontation is a continuation of a similar one that occurred a month ago during a funds drive at Kitere Catholic Church in Rongo Sub County.
