The countdown to the Embu 7s has begun, with top Kenya Cup sides confirming their participation in the tournament. The event, which will be held on July 6 and 7, 2019, at Njukuri in Embu, is expected to attract a large crowd of rugby fans.

According to Embu RFC chairman Moses Mukabane, a number of elite teams, including Mean Machine, Kabras, Impala, Nondies, Homeboyz, KCB, and Chuka Vikings, have confirmed their participation in the tournament. The teams will be competing in the division 1 category, which will feature 16 elite teams.

Mean Machine, who won the Embu 7s title in 2018 by beating Kenya Harlequin 12-7, is expected to be one of the top contenders in this year's tournament. Other teams that participated in the 2018 event include Nondies, Strathmore Leos, Kiambu RFC, Catholic Monks, Chuka Vikings, Meru RFC Siakago Gorillas, and Rwika.

Embu RFC, a Kenya Rugby Union affiliate, competes in the Central nationwide league, which involves teams from Central province and Upper Eastern. The tournament is expected to attract young rugby fans from Embu County as well as die-hard fans from Nairobi who will travel to Njukiri to watch the event.

Embu RFC has also confirmed that a number of elite DJs and artists will perform at the event to get the crowd going on Saturday and Sunday.
