Governor Stephen Sang of Nandi County has spoken out against the state's decision to withdraw his security detail without explanation.

Just weeks after being released on a KSh 1 million or KSh 500,000 cash bail after denying charges of trespassing and theft, Sang claims the state has now withdrawn his security detail.

Speaking at a press conference in Kapsabet on June 28, 2019, Sang stated that all security personnel at his office and home have been withdrawn.

According to Sang, the withdrawal of his security detail comes just weeks after he was arrested and charged with trespassing and theft in connection with a land dispute involving a local politician, Henry Kosgei.

"The land in question is public property that has been taken over," Sang emphasized.

"I am now living in fear for my safety after the state withdrew my security detail," Sang added.
