Published on June 29, 2019, Ivory Coast captain Serge Aurier's Africa Cup of Nations hopes are in jeopardy after he was forced to leave the field during a 1-0 defeat to Morocco in Cairo.

Aurier, who has been plagued by injuries throughout the season, including a thigh problem, groin injury, and hamstring tear, fears that his tournament may be over.

"I think it may be over because I felt something. It may be a tear," he said, without giving more details about the injury.

Despite the setback, Ivory Coast still has a chance to qualify for the round of 16 with one game left against minnows Namibia on Monday.

"The Moroccans were better committed and created more goal opportunities. Our goal tonight was to qualify for the round of 16 but we still have one game left for that. We will do everything to win it," he said.
