The discovery of a Kenyan woman's remains in Germany has brought closure to her family after a month-long search.
Rita Awuor Ojunge, 32, was reported missing on April 7, 2019, after she failed to return to the asylum shelter in Höhenleipisch where she lived with her husband and two children.
Her disappearance was shared with various media houses, including Nairobi News, which reported that she was last seen dropping her two children at a neighbor's house.
On May 23, her sister Caroline Atieno told Nairobi News, 'We are yet to find my sister who has now been missing for over a month now.'
However, in a recent Facebook post, Ms. Atieno revealed that her sister's remains had been found.
According to a press statement released by the South Brandenburg Police, the remains found in a forest were identified through a DNA match as Rita Awuor Ojunge.
The skeleton was discovered in mid-June, but police did not immediately confirm the identity of the remains.
Further investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of her death.
