Kenya's Harambee Stars have made history by defeating Tanzania 3-2 in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, and their players will be rewarded with a significant bonus.
According to sources, each of the 23 players will receive KSh 250,000 as a winning bonus, a welcome surprise for the team.
Michael Olunga scored a double in the match, while Johanna scored the other goal for Kenya. Simon Msuva and Mbwana Samatta scored consolation goals for Tanzania.
Speaking before the team left for France camp in May, FKF President Nick Mwendwa revealed that Stars players would receive KSh 750,000 as a winning bonus, but it seems the amount has been reduced to KSh 250,000.
Stars will play their final match against Senegal and need to avoid defeat to book a round of 16 ticket.
FKF President Nick Mwendwa had earlier stated that any player who would make it to the final squad would get KSh 750,000, while the three who would be axed from the camp in Paris would get KSh 250,000.
"We have also come up with the winning bonus for each group stage match and knockouts. The players will have to pen contracts which are being prepared," he said.
