On Saturday, an 8-year-old girl went missing, sparking a frantic search by her family and the police. Unfortunately, her body was found the next day, wrapped in a sack and dumped near Orata Bridge in Kitengela town.
According to eyewitnesses, passersby discovered the naked body of the girl inside the sack and immediately notified the police, who visited the scene promptly.
Residents of Kitengela expressed shock and outrage over the inhumane act, citing a recent surge in insecurity cases in the area, including muggings as early as 7pm.
They called on the police to investigate the incident, arrest the culprits, and increase night patrols in Orata and Noonkopir areas.
Sharon Nkata, a resident of Orata, urged parents to monitor their children's movements closely, while Benard Kilonzo, another resident, demanded swift action from the police to stop the frequent mysterious killings and dumping of bodies in the area.
Isinya sub-county police commander Ben Changulo confirmed the incident, stating that the victim's parents had filed a statement with the police, which led to the launch of investigations.
Changulo added that the body was taken to Kitengela Sub-county hospital mortuary for postmortem, as the police continue to pursue the killer(s).
Just a fortnight ago, a middle-aged man's body was found dumped near the Kitengela police station, sparking concerns about the safety of the area.
