On June 29, 2019, South Africa's Bafana Bafana secured a crucial 1-0 victory over Namibia in their Total Africa Cup of Nations Egypt 2019 Group D match, reviving their hopes of advancing to the last 16.

The win took South Africa's tally to three points, placing them third in the group, alongside second-placed Côte d'Ivoire, but with an inferior goal difference.

South Africa will need to win their final match against leaders Morocco and hope Côte d'Ivoire falter against Namibia to secure an automatic spot in the next round.

However, even if Côte d'Ivoire win, South Africa can still qualify as one of the four best third-placed teams, provided they avoid defeat in their final match.
