Mark Wahlberg is in talks to take over Chris Evans' role in the upcoming film Infinite, a move that comes after Evans agreed to the part in February but had to back out due to commitments with his Apple TV series Defending Jacob, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The film, based on the book The Reincarnation Papers, follows a secret society of people who possess total recall of their past lives, and a young man who joins their ranks.

Production on Infinite is set to begin this fall, with a premiere date scheduled for August of next year.

Wahlberg, who has wrapped up production on the crime drama Wonderland and Good Joe Bell, will also star in the animated comedy Scoob, alongside Zac Efron and Gina Rodriguez.

Evans, meanwhile, is currently filming Defending Jacob and has already wrapped up The Red Sea Diving Resort and Knives Out. He will next star in Jekyll as Tom Jackman, the only living descendant of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.
