On June 7, Nairobi Central DCIO Mr Samuel Kobina summoned three Nairobi Ward Representatives, Anthony Karanja (Waithaka), Ruth Ndumi (Nominated Jubilee), and Patricia Mutheu (Mlango Kubwa), to shed light on the Sonko Defense Forces (SDF).
On Tuesday, Mr Karanja recorded his statement, denying any knowledge of the group's existence.
He argued that the police had a duty to provide maximum security to the public and that the summoning was part of their duties.
However, Governor Sonko denied any association with the SDF, stating that the only group he was associated with was the Sonko Rescue Team, which engages in charity work.
He accused an unnamed Permanent Secretary of being behind the summoning of the three MCAs.
Investigations into the SDF began after the Labour Day celebration, where members of the group arrived at Uhuru Park carrying posters with SDF logos.
The group has a significant presence on social media and has been linked to a Facebook page and account called Nairobi Mini Bloggers.
Many Kenyans have been victims of the group, which has also been accused of targeting university students, bodaboda riders, and members of the public who are paid to make appearances during public functions.
