May 12, 2021 - The Westlands Parliamentary seat in Nairobi is heating up with the entry of Nelson Havi, president of the Law Society of Kenya, into the fray.

Days after Xtian Dela, a popular social media influencer, expressed interest in the seat, Havi revealed that he was approached by Westlands constituents to run for the post in 2022.

"I have accepted the request of the people of Westlands Constituency to serve them and the nation in that capacity of an MP effective August 2022 or earlier in the event Parliament is dissolved," Havi said in a video statement on his Twitter handle on May 10, 2021.

As a seasoned advocate, Havi demonstrated his understanding of the duties of a Member of Parliament, citing the constitution's enumeration of functions and duties, including making laws, protecting the constitution, and overseeing state organs.

With current Westlands MP Timothy Wanyonyi hinting at a run for Nairobi Governor in 2022, Havi and Xtian Dela will face stiff competition for the parliamentary seat.
