Published on August 5, 2020, a scandal has rocked the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga family after an illicit affair involving Kisumu Central MP Fred Ouda and the daughter-in-law of Oburu Oginga was exposed.

According to sources, Ouda eloped with the wife of Elijah Oburu, the eldest son of Oburu, when he accompanied his father to India for treatment over two years ago.

The wife, who works at Equity Bank's Milimani branch in Kisumu, was reportedly employed on political grounds rather than her academic qualifications or job expertise.

Oburu Odinga, a member of the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA), has dispatched individuals to investigate those behind the expose, which has caused tension within the family.

A meeting was held with Ouda's inner circle and close associates, including Kisumu Central CDF chairman Samuel Nyawanda, Ouda's aide Steve Rambo, and Oginga's aide Peter Yongo, to discuss the issue.

The Odinga family has been secretly grooming Elijah to take over from Ouda as a form of revenge following his alleged adulterous act.

Sources claim Ouda plans to switch his base to Nakuru town, citing his failure as an MCA in Gem during the 2013 polls and his abandonment of his constituents in Kisumu.
