A woman named Beatrice Kikunga has taken Thirdway Alliance leader Ekuru Aukot to court over child maintenance. Kikunga claims they were in a relationship from 2011 to 2018, resulting in the birth of their child in 2017.

According to Kikunga, Aukot deserted their family in early 2018 and has since refused to take responsibility for their child's basic needs. She is seeking Sh105,000 monthly for the child's maintenance, including rent, food, utility bills, clothing, medication, house help, and entertainment.

When Kikunga instituted the suit in February, Senior Resident Magistrate HM Mbatia ordered a DNA test to settle the issue of disputed paternity. However, Aukot failed to appear for the test, prompting Kikunga to file another suit for contempt of court.

On July 2, the magistrate issued another order for Aukot and Kikunga to undergo a DNA test at Lancet Laboratories. The test was scheduled for July 7, with the results to be filed in court on July 24.
