On July 14, 2020, the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) and Nairobi Central SDA Church made a generous donation to the Motherly Care Children's Home in Ruai, Nairobi County.
The donation included foodstuffs and personal protective equipment, which is particularly significant during the COVID-19 pandemic. Many children's homes across the country have been struggling to receive support from well-wishers due to the pandemic, making it challenging to operate daily activities.
Speaking during the handover, KBC Director Charles Mulila emphasized the importance of showing compassion to the needy and being a 'brother's keeper.' He encouraged other organizations to lend a helping hand to the vulnerable in Kenya.
Regarding COVID-19, Mulila stated that KBC is at the forefront of ensuring the safety of its workers and Kenyans during the pandemic. The corporation has implemented measures such as working in shifts, maintaining 39 hand-washing points, and using infrared thermometers to prevent the spread of the virus.
Additionally, Mulila announced that KBC will continue to broadcast live services from various churches and mosques, promoting the freedom of worship and ensuring that all religions are represented.
Since the COVID-19 pandemic was declared in Kenya in March 2020, KBC has been airing live services from the Jamia Mosque, Holy Basilica, and All Saints' Cathedral, among others.
