July 7, 2020
CS Mutahi Kagwe's recent efforts to transfer over 30 officers from the Ministry of Health's headquarters at Afya House have sparked optimism among Kenyans online.
Under the hashtag #FixingMoH, netizens have expressed their support for Kagwe's bid to bring down the cartels at Afya House, with many praising his bravery in tackling the issue.
Speaking at a recent briefing on the Covid-19 status at Afya House, Nairobi, Kagwe vowed to deal with the 'criminal elements' without fear or favour.
Netizens have taken to social media to laud Kagwe's efforts, with some noting that he is regaining Kenyan trust by firing corrupt cartels.
As one Twitter user put it, 'Cs Mutahi Kagwe is a Performer & Reformer. Don't forget that it was during Kagwe's tenure as Minister for ICT in Kibaki's government that Safaricom's M-Pesa was launched, the first-ever mobile money transfer system in the world then.'
Another user noted that before Kagwe was appointed, the Health Ministry was plagued by cartels, incompetence, and scandals.
With Kagwe's efforts to dismantle the cartels at Afya House, Kenyans are hopeful that the Ministry of Health will regain its lost trust.
