On Tuesday, June 23, 2020, Nairobi police made a significant breakthrough in their efforts to combat burglary in the city. Five suspected burglars were arrested in Parklands estate, bringing relief to the community that had been terrorized by their activities.
The arrests were made through a joint effort between the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau (CRIB) and detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters.
The suspects, identified as Susan Wambui Njoroge, Kennedy Aluoch, Kilibe Justin, Samson Wanjohi, and James Mwangi, were found in possession of assorted items suspected to have been stolen from victim's houses.
According to the DCI, the recovered items include laptops, jewelry, mobile phone chargers, and hard drives. Dozens of master keys were also recovered, highlighting the suspects' modus operandi.
Nairobi police boss Philip Ndolo confirmed that detectives had been trailing the suspects for weeks leading up to their arrest. He also hinted at the possibility of more arrests, stating that the police are seeking to apprehend the suspects' accomplices.
The suspects have been placed in lawful custody and are awaiting their arraignment in court.
