On June 23, 2020, Middlesbrough Football Club announced the sacking of manager Jonathan Woodgate, citing a string of poor results that left the team battling for survival in the Championship.
Woodgate's last match in charge was a 3-0 defeat at home to Swansea City, which left Middlesbrough sitting 21st in the Championship standings, out of the relegation zone only on goal difference.
Neil Warnock, a veteran tactician, has been appointed as Woodgate's successor and will take charge of the team with eight matches remaining in the season.
Warnock's first assignment will be a crucial away clash against fellow relegation battlers Stoke City on June 27, 2020.
Woodgate, a former Boro and England defender, took over as manager at the club last summer, replacing Tony Pulis.
