Published on June 12, 2020, a Facebook post by Moses Kuria claimed that Senate Majority Whip Irungu Kang'ata was under pressure to form a committee with a list of favourable Senators to save Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru, who was impeached on Tuesday.

According to Kuria, Kang'ata created a list of proposed committee members on Friday, which included Jubilee Senators Gideon Moi, Beth Mugo, Anuar Oloitiptip, Mohamed Muhammud, Johnson Sakaja, and Abshiro Halaqe, as well as NASA Senators Cleophas Malala, Beatrice Kwamboka, Judith Pareno, Moses Kajwang, and Enoch Wambua.

However, Kuria noted that all Tanga Tanga Senators, including Kipchumba Murkomen, Susan Kihika, Aaron Cheruiyot, and Samson Cherargei, were omitted from the list. He also pointed out that no Senator from the Mt Kenya region, where Kirinyaga is located, was included in the list, raising questions about the selection process.

Linus Kaikai, a media personality, also weighed in on the issue, stating that the Senate has no mind of its own and will be controlled by the Executive in the impeachment process.
