June 10, 2020 - A friendly match between Manchester United and Stoke City was abruptly cancelled after Stoke's manager, Michael O'Neill, was diagnosed with coronavirus.
According to a statement from Stoke City, O'Neill tested positive for Covid-19 following the latest round of testing on June 8, despite having tested negative in the previous five rounds.
As a result, O'Neill will undergo a period of isolation, while continuing to be in regular virtual contact with his coaching staff and players.
Assistant manager Billy McKinlay will prepare the team for their upcoming match against Reading on June 20, when the Championship resumes after a three-month suspension due to the pandemic.
Stoke City are currently just three points above the relegation zone with nine games remaining in the season.
