322 Senior Police Officers Moved in Reshuffle
Newsroom Updated 2 min read
Top Kenya Police Service officers have been moved in a major reshuffle initiated by the Inspector General of Police (IG) Joseph Boinnet on Tuesday this week.
Those transferred were ordered to report to their new duty stations immediately.
The IG further revealed that the move was aimed at improving security across the country.
The 322 were mainly from the Officer Commanding Police Division (OCPD) rank.
Other media reports says that the name OCPD has changed to Sub- County Police Commander (SCPC) in line with the new constitution.
This comes merely days after Boinnet, through his deputy (DIG) Edward N. Mbugua, on Wednesday last week, ordered the immediate transfer of all 43 police officers from Shauri Moyo station.
Reports indicated that the Shauri Moyo transfers came after public outcry over increased criminal activities in the area, coupled with alleged harassment and extortion incidents by the officers at the station.
However, some officers differed and term the transfers a cover-up for the crimes committed by the DIG.
One officer anonymously sent documents to the editor of this site, detailing how the DIG is involved in deforestation. Read: Alert Boinnet: Deputy Inspector General of Kenya Police Linked to Deforestation The IG is yet to respond.
The transfered officers were required to report to their new stations by February 27 and their bosses required to file back reports on their arrivals and departures.
“Release the officers to report to their new stations by February 27, 2019. Submit casualty returns on departure and arrival,” DIG Mbugua directed.
