2 PEOPLE shot dead, several injured including 16 police officers, as a mob rescued a suspect in Endebess

Ref -OB 7/16/12/18 at 1635 hrs.
Reported by NO 58494 Sgt Joseph Juma Kimame of Kolongolo Patrol Base that he sent No. 118264 PC Peter Kamau Njoroge,No. 117632 PC Denis Onjiri and No. 111508 PC Moffat Murigi to effect an arrest of an assault case victim vide OB 2/8/12/18 reported by Metrin Sikuku. They effected the arrest of Dan Juma. Then members of public numbering about 100 armed with crude weapons became rowdy and wanted to rescue the suspect by force. No. 118264 PC Peter Kamau fired 3 rounds in the air from G3 rifle serial no. 6595058 to try and disperse the rowdy irate members of public.
The crowd swell and the suspect managed to escape handcuffed. The public descended on the officers chasing them where by PC Peter Kamau Njoroge who was the only armed officer was hit with a stone on the chest fell down and one member of public came and tried to snatch the rifle from him. In the course he fatally shot two people who were part of the rowdy crowd. The crowd retreated partially then the officers got a chance to escape to the post.
The crowd swell and advanced towards the patrol Base. The OC called for reinforcement from the GSU Chepchoina,Kwanza police post and Endebess police station. The first to arrive was the GSU section whose vehicle reg GKB228U was pelted with stones after they found the road to the patrol base blocked. No. 97172 PC(D) ERICK MOKUA was hit with a stone on the right hand after the drivers window was smashed. As a result the driver lost control and the vehicle overturned.
10 officers were pelted with stones injuring them as they tried to protect the land cruiser from being torched. The rowdy public proceeded to attack the patrol base. GKB 254T from Endebess had it's wind screen cracked, GKB 356R from scenes of crime had it's bonnet dented and GKB 217H had its windscreen smashed and bonnet dented.
All the four officers of the patrol base were injured in the process. Body of one Moris Walela aged 27yrs collected by police and another one of Caleb Sakwa aged 27 yrs was forcefully taken away by the irate crowd. scene visited by CI David Kiumba, the DCIO kwanza, OCS Endebess and CSSS, who documented and processed the scene.
It is suspected several members of the public who attacked the police patrol base are injured and believed to have been rushed to various hospitals where the police are following up to come up with a conclusive report. G3 No. 6595058 held by the DCI office for further investigationand No. 118264 PC Peter Kamau placed in custody to help on investigation. Follow up report to follow.
